URGE EVERYONE YOU KNOW TO TAKE A STAND – IT’S NOT JUST FOR CATHOLICS

To correct the threats to religious liberty and rights of conscience, posed by the Health and Human Services ruling of the present Administration; the Respect for Rights of Conscience Act has been introduced in Congress (H.R. 1179, S. 1467). to combat the wrongs now instated. This measure will ensure that those who participate in the health care system “retain the right to provide, purchase, or enroll in health coverage that is consistent with their religious beliefs and moral convictions.” It is more important than ever that Members of Congress be urged to co-sponsor this measure, and make it into a Bill. It is of vital importance for the right to religious freedom. If you agree or disagree with these procedures is not the point. RELIGIOUS FREEDOM IS! Please contact Senators Schumer and Gillibrand and then contact your congressional representative (Rep. Kathy Hocul) urging them to support this bill, (H.R. 1179, S. 1467). Please pray and act. There are information sheets about this topic and other sheets are near the bulletins with the Senators and Rep. Kathy Hocul’s addresses, phone and fax numbers and a sample letter that you may write. SOUP & MOVIE AFTERNOON

Are you experiencing the winter blahs, looking for a little company and pleasant conversation, longing for a good old movie where people remember how to talk without swearing, men held the door for ladies and ladies wore the most gorgeous hats? Well then the ladies of WIGL have just what you need. Sunday, February 26 following 10:30am mass we will be offering “Soup and Movie Afternoon” at the cottage for the mature members of our Parish. We will be having a lite lunch of soups and breads, with dessert and beverage followed by the movie African Queen featuring Katherine Hepburn and Humphrey Bogart. If you aren’t sure if you are mature enough for this special date, answer yes to either of these questions and you qualify: Do you remember watching Lawrence Welk on Saturday evenings before it was in reruns? Do you remember gas when it was 30 cents a gallon? Then “Soup and Movie Afternoon” is for you. There is no cost for this event and it is for adults only. Hope to see you there.

New Roman Missal

W e started using the Roman Missal 3 beginning the 1st week of Advent , which was Sun. Nov. 27th. If you haven’t heard been able to hear the explanations of why we’re changing the Missal, go to vimeo.com and type in Roman Missal in the explore box. You’ll then have a choice of High school, Middle school , or Adult & Parents version. to look at.

It’s really an exciting time in the history of the church. Come be a part of becoming a truly universal church ( which is what Catholic means), using universal language. throughout the world,not just the US or English speaking countries.

We’re back to being the biblically based church we’ve always been. Let’s celebrate in a deeper way, every time we experience the Mass !

May we recognize your real presence in every moment of our lives. Transform our hearts from stone-blocked tombs into life-giving temples where we may find you, with the Blessed Virgin Mary, and live in your grace so that one day we may be with you for ever in paradise.
